Motivation, Habits and Goals

I’ve shared my journey on several platforms ranging from IG, Reddit, FB and forums and the one thing people tell me they admire most is my consistency. This isn’t something that comes natural to me though. It takes work to build habits and habits always trump motivation.

Every January we all say how motivated we are to start the “new year, new me” stuff but motivation is fickle and leaves the second old habits kick in. You have to overcome that urge to put it off until tomorrow and be better than your excuses. I spent years making excuses for myself. I can remember sitting in the parking lot of Wawa (Hall of fame convenience store) eating a bag of Doritos and 1/4 hot dog knowing I was sabotaging my own hard work and making excuses for it and why tomorrow will be different. Motivation is important at first but you need to find something deeper to drive on those days when the motivation is gone.

Results are what drive me these days. I like weighing weekly and seeing the scale go down. I like training and putting up heavier weights than I did a month ago. Also I’ve set lofty goals for myself. I have thousands of people watching me and I will not fail. Eventually I would like to achieve my weight loss goals and since I’m dreaming big here, become an SFG and a beast master. One more goal for 2021, I will do my first pull up!! Find what drives you!
